Goal of
seminar
To bring together government officials, representatives
from companies, trade associations, non-governmental organizations,
etc. from countries in South Asia and the United States to discuss
and exchange views on intellectual property issues relating to
traditional knowledge, genetic resources and folklore in order
to gain a more comprehensive perspective on the views involved
and better understand those perspectives. Discussions will also
focus on the practical aspects of developing effective access
and benefit sharing regimes.
Audience
Senior and director level policy officials or
their representatives or designees from relevant ministries/agencies
from the region, including intellectual property offices, ministries
of commerce, environment, agriculture, culture, national libraries,
representatives from pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies,
etc., trade associations, and relevant non-governmental organizations.
